Which bands
do you have?

Look at the shape, length, and handles. Match your setup before choosing a resistance band exercise.

Bands with handles

A long tube or band with a handle at each end.

Also called resistance tubes or tube bands.

The handle-based demonstrations in this collection place the middle of the band under the feet. Check the length and instructions for your own band before matching that setup.

Mini loop bands

A short, closed loop worn around the legs.

Often called mini bands, hip bands, or glute bands.

Our lateral band walk and clamshell examples show a loop around the thighs. Fabric and latex loops can differ in stretch and fit; the illustration does not specify a material.

Long loop bands

A long, continuous loop without built-in handles.

Also called power bands, superbands, or pull-up assistance bands.

A long loop is different from a mini loop. This first website collection does not label the handle-based demonstrations as long-loop variations. Check the exact setup rather than assuming the same grip or length.

Flat, open-ended bands

A flat strip with two free ends rather than a closed loop.

Sometimes sold as stretch or therapy bands.

Grip, length, and attachment methods vary. We do not yet have a separately verified flat-band collection on this website. Follow your band’s instructions; this guide is not a rehabilitation program.

Figure-eight, multi-loop, or bar systems

A shaped band, multiple grip loops, or bands connected to a bar and other accessories.

These are distinct equipment setups.

Use the instructions supplied with your system. We have not verified these systems against this website’s exercise collection, so no compatibility is implied.

Shape first. Material second.

Fabric, latex, and non-latex describe material; mini loop, long loop, and tube describe the shape. A shared color or resistance label does not establish that two bands are equivalent. Check the product’s own specifications and setup instructions.
